Midwest Country Connection, Inc. is a Country Western dance club located in Columbia, Missouri. The purpose of the club is to promote, encourage and teach Country Western dance.
The club meets on Sundays at the Elks' Lodge at 4747 E. Elk Park Dr. in Columbia. The club was formed in July of 1991 and is a Missouri not-for-profit corporation. The club operates under its bylaws with an elected Board of Directors and Executive Officers. All operations of the club are done by the generous donation of time by the members.
Since the club was established, we have had over 2,000 people involved. Our membership list is over 1,900 with over 100 active members.
Staying true to our roots as a club is the key to our teaching schedule and those roots are C-O-U-N-T-R-Y. We teach the three most commonly danced couple dances as the core curriculum. These are two step, triple step, and East Coast Swing. These classes will be taught in the Basics portion of each of the six sessions each year. The More Basics and intermediate classes will provide additional instruction for two step, triple step and East Coast Swing along with a rotation of other popular dance styles such as Waltz, Cha Cha, West Coast Swing, Night Club Two Step and Hustle.
All dance instruction is done by members who are part of the Dance Committee. Some of the instructors are members of the National Teachers Association and the Missouri Professional Country Dance Association
